Hey there HotWheels63 -- welcome. Not sure I can help with the XJR but I wanted to reply so as not to leave you hanging with no reply at all. I'm on my second F-type (had a 2016 and now a 2018). As much as there still seems to be a sigma in owning a Jaguar -- I have been very impressed overall with the quality and service for both cars. The 2016 I owned was a bit of an anomaly since it was Jaguar's first manual transmission in the F-type -- which had some clutch issues that they had to replace. Other than that, I haven't had any major servicing issues with either car.
When I've had the annual service (oil changes) on either car, I'd throw in a few odd issues that developed during the year but nothing significant and nothing that they weren't able to fix (under warranty).
Overall, I'm still very happy with my 2018.
