Tracking your Jag from Halifax via CN Rail
I've been waiting for about a week for my VIN to show up on CN's online tracking tool. Nothing showing up yet -- despite the fact that the Tosca unloaded its Jags last week.
After a bit of detective work, I pulled the WW manifest of the previous vessel (the Torino) that arrived July 3 in Halifax. Using these VIN numbers, I pulled up the CN tracking on the vehicles. I have no clue whether the VIN numbers are considered to be 'confidential' (despite the fact that they can easily be found on the WW site) so I blacked these out in the screen shot attached. Check out the info on the CN site. The site appears to only 'track' when the vehicle arrives at its destination. I was expecting a FedEx type tracker that would have shown all steps of the shipping.
Thought I would share this information with those on this forum -- so you don't drive yourself crazy (like I have done), even if your vehicle doesn't show up on the CN tracking site, it still may be in motion.
From the attached experience with the Torino -- it looks like a 10 day ETA from the date the vehicle is released by WW to the day it arrives in the destination city. I suppose folks need to add a few more days to factor in shipment from the CN local site to your dealer and then dealer prep.

Ok, in my delirious state of anticipation, it looks like I made a mistake in my post above. As it turns out, the CN site shows the current status of an item being tracked but not the full history. You just have to monitor the site regularly to get updates. Unlike FedEx where you can see the full travel history anytime you log in.

Load Departed Clarke, ON 19 Jul 15:09 ET
Load Arrived Toronto Macmil Yard, ON 19 Jul 17:23 ET
Looks like it took a total of 3 days from time the car showed up on the CN site to the date it arrived in Toronto. It still has to be released to customer and also transported to the dealership.

that's what I thought but ... from what my salesguy is telling me, it's looking like I'll have to wait until next week
After posting the update above, the car apparently went to the CN rail station in Oakville (even though my dealer is 4km from the MacMillan yard):
Empty At Destination Oakville, ON 21 Jul 17:12
From here, it now has to head back to Woodbridge to the dealership. Once there, it needs to undergo the dealer inspection and they have to apply the tint that I asked for. I'm crossing my fingers for a Monday or Tuesday pick up at this point.
Of the total 5 month wait, these past 3 weeks have been the most painful!

Either way, I got the email today that the car will be ready for pick up on Thursday. I'm going to just wait it out -- I've waited this long what's another week. At least I have a confirmed pick up date now...
