RE: £5000 CAR DETAIL
Washing ur car for a year costs the same as what I paid for my xk8 and my xj6.
I wanna learn how to clean a car that good, how much do u think the total cost of suipplies were for that guy, besides the wax. I bet I could afford to clean it taht good myself, then throw some turtle wax on.

Here yeah go guys. Now you buy your own $11,000 tub of wax. They even have a cheaper version specifically for Jaguars, but I'd get the top of the line stuff. It's a bargain because they refill the tubs for life.
This is what the guy was using in the video clip.

RE: £5000 CAR DETAIL
As a former manufacturers rep and instructor for a major automotive reconditioning products manufacturer and professional detailer, I'd have to say this guy's a tad overboard. I noticed several don'ts during the washing process and the rest was standard detailing 101. A lot of the products he was using were easily replaced by good quality products such as Car brite, Mequires, orMothers offers. Also worth noting are the current high tech offerings by Dupont which can offer finishes unheard of ten years ago. Carnuba in it's day was the only option, but given the advances in technology, there are products around that work as well or better. In any finish the process is the same, Clean the surface, prep the surface, and when all is done, seal the surface. I only wish I knew where I could find clients (idiots) willing to drop this kind of cash on a car detail!!! After all, a $500.00 watch tells time as accurately as a $500,000.00 watch.

RE: £5000 CAR DETAIL
Zymol makes a combo scratch remover and polish which is reasonable in price (around $20 unless on sale). I'm going to try it because I have some annoying scratches and stains from Seagull **** that you can see in the right light. The best polish I have in my garage (and I'm no expert) won't get rid of it.
Also, what is best for cleaning a Cabriolet fabric convertible top? The birds have issued forth some stains there too.

Bird droppings are higly acidic. Unfortunately as you've discovered they can be very harmful to paint, and similar to egg, can cause permenant damage.I'm not sure how proficient you are at power polishing, but if you're not I'd suggest you take your baby in to a competent detailer. While they won't in all likelyhood be able to completely remove it, they can likely improve the spot to where you waonts notice it.As for the top use a good quality soap or convertable top cleanerand a soft brush and use the suds to scrub the top. If you want some good detailing tips, you might want to look at Car Brite's web site. They may even have a rep near you for products. Hope it helps man... and watch out for those &*#% Gulls.

RE: £5000 CAR DETAIL
Jeez.......you aint kiddin XJ........I took delivery of my new Audi a little while ago now. A few days later it was back to the dealers for them to tidy up the bonnet area.
There were 5 or 6 bird drop splatters in various places only really noticeable when cleaning the car in certain light conditions. They had actually permeated thru the top coat of paint. The fix?
They had to remove a few microns of paint and repolish to remove them!
Now thats acidic.
