Chip on XK8 convertible roof pillar

Chaps,
I've got a terrible set of chips on the roof pillar of my convertible XK8 - having attempted to jet wash the roof clean (Total failure. Don't try it. The only thing I removed was the paint) which I need to sort out (selling it at the moment).
Now, I have read the *shameless* plugs on the forum for Dr ColorChip (sic) products but I still have been left none the wiser on a couple of points:
- although the car is in Brooklands Green (I think; well, the code is "HFB"), the roof pillar is a sort of dusty charcoal black colour. Is there a code I should know about to pick the right sort of black?
- Leaving aside Dr ColorChip (sic) and their excellent social networking team, does any non-affiliated third party know of any decent products I should invest in?!
Thanks very much
James

Are you talking about the metal insert in the rubber trim around the windshield? Assuming this is what it is, they are a very dark metallic grey. This is a known problem area as they are made of aluminum and the aluminum oxidizes under the paint.
The color code is Dorchester Grey 342/LDP if you want to get touchup paint for this.

I ordered dr.colorchip after reading nothing but great reviews about it. Give that a try. I'm not affiliated to them by the way! lolz...just your ordinary joe looking for something that will work. If you want just touch up paint try www.automotivetouchup.com, great prices!
Later.
