Greetings, paint-masters....
I have a 1992 XJS where in one area on the boot the paint is getting pretty bad. The paint on the roof isn't great, but it's very bad here, and in a small concentrated area for some reason. Is this a failing clear coat? The close-up pics make it look almost as if the paint is chipping away from scratches.
Overall view of the area. Just this one part by the wing. (The brownish look is the reflection of the house next door.) Close-up, the paint appears crazed and cracking. I've experimented with rubbing compound, by hand. No apparent change.
It's not very attractive, and while I'm not a fanatic about the paint, I do want to keep it in decent condition. But any suggestions and advice will be gratefully received....
