Detailed.....
When I bought the Jag 3.5 years ago I was always reminded whenever I washed the car of all the swirl marks....especially black non metallic paint like mine. I knew I shouldn't have had the dealer prep the car as they must have used some dirty or old hard towels..........even my sales guy told me when I picked it up the car that he wouldn't trust his detailing crew. I've tried alot of swirl mark remover by hand and nothing work. I knew only a buffer will remove them.
Anyhow.... I bought a Porter Cable a few years back but never had the courage to try it on the Jag or SL and so I figured I'd have my buddy detail the exterior this summer with the buffer.
After the results......I couldn't be happier. Those with black cars...definitely find a good detailer to remove those pesky swirl marks! I am planning to have my buddy do this once a year now.
After 8 hours of buffing........

Looks awesome! My XKR was delivered with swirls and I clayed it and buffed by hand and still had swirls. I bought a power buffer last month and practiced on the old beater Benz and then got brave enough to do the good cars. Wow, what a difference!
It was a major multi-step process, but worth it. I've got several coats of carnauba wax and finally found a detail spray that actually seems to work (two actually: Speed Demon, which contains wax, and Hot Rod, which is wax-free).

If the paint is truly corrected you won't get holograms, these are from improper use of a buffer and finishing down properly.
Swirls are caused in the drying, washing, and wipe down. Some paints are soft and marr easily, if you keep getting swirls change your methods.
Cheers,
