Innovative Detailing Corrects and Protects 2012 Aston Martin Virage
I wanted to share some photos of a job I completed last week for one of my VIP clients. I wanted to experiment a bit more in depth with the Adams Polishes products, specifically the Fine Machine Polish and the Adams Americana for my LSP.
My patient for the day was this tailor made 2012 Aston Martin Virage. Fit and finish made to be like no other, but in this case, the paint which IMO was the "worse" final finish that I have yet to see on such an fine exquisite vehicle.
Let me introduce to you this soon to be gorgeous 2012 Aston Martin Virage, thanks to Adams Polishes and 8.5 man hours of paint correction and finesse.
Initial inspection photos, these are pre prep shots before any cleaning...
I was just blown away, from RDS's to extensive colorsanding marks, d/a sanding marks everywhere from the factory. On top you also have the dealer induced extensive fine scratches...and it goes on and on and on....
So a plan of correction was put into place, one to include Adams Fine Machine Polish as my go to polish.
The initial prep begins with a very thorough cleaning and then another up close inspection.
So now for some after thorough cleaning inspection shots of the damage.....
Careful these photos may induce nausea
This was the "Hall of Shame" nasty shot that shows it all!
Combine that with "TOGW" The Other Guys Wax.....do they really need to use that caked up white wax at the dealer? don't they see the transtion line of the film?.....
So the next step was to prep all the sufaces using the new NanoSkin towel, which like clay removes any bonded contaminants using a special lube.
Here I am making my first correction pass......
The results of my first pass under 1400 watts of halogens
Now for the "wow" factor....my first time using Adams Fine Machine Polish....I was literally blown away, from its ease of application to it's extended use time that allows one to work in the product without it drying up or dusting on me.
And for the icing on this cake, Adams Americana......
Completed and beautified photos

Engine bay dialed up
Thank you all for viewing my post....
Have a great day!

I dont think it was, just dealer neglect maximus
Cost was not an issue whatsoever, my customer didnt even notice this until the following day. Not even under the jewelers lights on the showroom floor. But lo and behold the next day I was the first one he called to make this correction. Asked if he wanted a bill to pass it on to the dealer....nothing was said......But I am sure he could of recovered 100% of this correction.
I am not sure AM would ship these unwrapped either by air or sea, so this is just one of those smoke and mirror glaze jobs that masked everything. Combine this with the dealers untrained car washers and porters, and this is what you get. I told my customer that he should speak to the GM about the delivery conditions, but it didnt seem to be much of an issue to him...he just asked howm much and wrote a check....
Vector, I used only a d/a for correction on this vehicle
alhobro, thank you for the compliments, I appreciate this!
OTD, Thanks a bunch, as flat as this paint is colorsanded in the factory it indeed looked like a mirror reflection!
XJL, Thank you for viewing, you are very welcome....I appreciate your comments, this to me is what inspires me everyday to do my very best!

Dave, that finish is something I can only aspire to! I can see your 8.5 hours...the Adam's polishes, expensive? what do you mean by the term color sanding? - also do you measure paint finish thickness before a plan of action?
Pity about the factory finish, I can't understand how AM released it, the stringent quality control, particularly in body and paint is something to behold, your lamps are dwarfed, they use a 'light room' where all walls, ceiling and floor are lights.
I'd be ultra proud of handing a job over like that!

The Adams Polishes line of products is not by any means inexpensive but its not overly priced like some boutique products......
When I mention the word colorsanding this is a proceedure that is done during the painting proccess. Every Aston-Martin body is sanded using hand-held orbital sanders with a 400-grade sanding disc, dampened with a fine mist of de-ionised water, and sanded again with 1000-grade discs. Compressed air blows away any factory gnorts, the body is inspected for tiny defects and degreased using an environmentally safe water-based solution and surfaces are wiped with tack cloth in between each process to remove dust. The car then sits, naked, in a controlled area so that any residue from these processes can evaporate.
Two paint technicians simultaneously apply a primer coat afterward, working on opposite sides of the body. The process is closely monitored to ensure even paint application, particularly where the two sides meet on the bonnet, roof and boot lid. After priming, the body is left to stand again, allowing surplus solvents to escape before the baking process is finished.
If the initial sanding using hand-held orbital sanders with a 400-grade and 1000-grade discs is not finished off properly the defects will be visible as the paint shrinks or cures. Also they will be visible in the final colorsanding once painted if not properly polished. When correcting serious surface defects yes I do take pre digital measurements of the paint if its a steel surface.
I agree with you about the light room, as I have seen photos of the aston Martin factory finish bays and they are very impressive. My lighting looks like a pen light compared to that.....lol. But once the vehicle arrives, it reaches the port and many times they have a company that preps them before they hit the dealers.
Thanks again for the compliments!

So one week has gone by since this job was completed. We had rain on Monday and she was due for a thorough was and paint inspection to make sure it was perfect. I took advantage of the sun for these awesome photos, the owner also had a factory Carbon Fiber Diffuser added to the rear since my last visit.
Stay tuned for tomorrows project....JaguarForum members new vehicle prep, correction and seal on a new cat!
