Default Looking for a DA Polisher

Well, my cheep o Walmart buffer went South today when I was attempting to remove some swirl marks on my paint with Meguiars Swirl X, which wasn't working (ended up trying by hand which didn't work). Anyway, my buffer is done, so I find myself in need of a DA. I need a fairly decent one because I'll probably be sharing it with my father who would use it to detail boats on occasion.

I've looked into several Shurhold (which is sold at a local boat store), Griot's, Porter Cable, and Meguiars. My main concern is compatibility with the pads, and where I can buy them.

I bought the Porter Cable that Dave recommended and am very happy with it. It looks and feels like it's built to last.

Thanks for the reference to my link h20boy and for the good words gavatos ...

Tophatchef, you can't go wrong with the P/C...I think right now its on Amazon for $119.00 @ your doorstep!..Its such a versatile polisher and you can accomplish so much without that fear or intimidation factor!...

Happy 4th of July 2010 all!

As I have said before, I personally have been using the Porter Cable line of D/A's for close to 20 years.....Since the new XP version was released, I have no need for any other machine of this type.

From a professional's opinion to all of you, the Porter Cable XP is a great bang for the buck, you can't go wrong!

I've loved my Meguiar's DA polisher. It's really a Porter Cable, but at the time there was a lifetime warrenty on the Meguiar's polisher and not on the Porter Cable version. As far as products I prefer the Prima line http://www.primacarcare.com/Home_Page.html
