Weathered door trim clean up

The exterior black trim that runs along the top of the doors has weathered (faded some and gotten a little rough).
Any tips on cleaning it up and restoring some of its previous luster?
Saw the sticky about the black dye. How to smooth before dyeing?

I've used something very similar over here, it's almost like a thick black treacle like substance. Use an old cloth and apply letting it soak in for 20 mins or so then buff to a high black shine....extra coats can be applied if necessary.
I used this on some extremely faded black plastic bumpers on an old Vauxhall Corsa where the bumpers were literally a sun faded gray. A few applications and theywere as black as black could be. I can't remember the name here in the UK but it sounds identical
