I purchased an Arizona '78 XJ6L this year that went through fairly extensive restoration prior to owner's passing. Being a dry state car the chrome wheels are quite nice however the black in the depression of the stamped 'windows' varies from marginal to nonexistant. Where none is present light surface rust was beginning and has been removed leaving them vulnerable. I would like to repaint the black into all these wheels.
Does someone offer paint tape masks so these areas can be readily sprayed?
If not, what has anyone used to do this by hand? (I am considering daubers)
Was the factory paint gloss black or matte black?
A couple of photos from the internet of the goal appearance. Neither pic is of my car.
Thanks for any help you can offer. This quantity of coverage looks ideal to me. These look to me as if too much paint coverage was achieved? Comment welcome.
