Which diesel engined model... new member
I have fallen in love with Jaguar after a friend bought two S Types. One is a supercharged petrol and the other is a 2.7 ltr diesel.
I love the supercharged petrol but practicality favours the diesel.
I'm in New Zealand and there aren't many S Type diesels and am looking at XF 2.2 ltr or 3.0 ltr diesels variants.
Are there 3 - 5 major things I need to be aware of when making a decision?
Thanks in advance

If you are looking models before 2015(? not absolute sure of the year) the 2.2litr are pretty much flawless. Itīs Ford/PSA DW12 engine well used in multible solutions in many brands. Been driving two vehicles up to 500tkm with that engine. (ofcource needs normal services like any other engine) Go ahead and have an testdrive with 2.2 diesel, and if the power are enough for you, then stay on that. Its not bad at all. Newer engines are Jaguar own ingnium family, what i donīt have any experiense.
3.0litr diesel are different animal. Huge, smooth torgue, with silky running..... but; If not serviced well there are an risk of catastrofic failure by rotating main bearing or snapping crankshaft. Oilchange recommend in 10t-15tkm and ONLY low ash C1 oils shall be used. Some V6 diesel engines never saw 100tkm, but then there are up to 400tkm driven engines still running Ok.
I have 2010 XJ with 3.0 diesel, soon 250tkm on a clock. Been changing oils every 10tkm. (easy job by electric pump)
