Default Jaguar Problem! Help to search one piece!

Dear,

For more than a month, my Jaguar S-TYPE 2.7D (2005) is standby in the garage, because I need a part to repair it.
My Jaguar is automatic.
Last six digits of my vehicle's VIN: N54597
I checked 53 scrapping cars in Spain and other sites in Internet ... but nothing ...

I add the piece and the number of the piece according the manual (Nº17).

All help is apreciated!

Best regards,

Rubén Rodríguez

Does your car have an automatic or manual gearbox?

The part you're looking for is VIN-specific, so please provide the last six digits of your vehicle's VIN to get the correct part.

You can also contact SNG Barratt in France or the UK to ask about the availability of the hose restrictor.

Based on the VIN and gearbox fitted, the part number is XR854268. Unfortunately, it appears that part is no longer manufactured. Perhaps a local Jaguar specialist in Spain may be able to suggest a substitute part.

Dear NBCat,

Thanks for the info!

I will continue looking for the piece or, as a last option, I will build an equal in metal.

Best regards

Building a suitable part from metal is probably your best way forward so you're not back to the same point in the future.

If you do construct one from metal, post pictures of it so others with a similar situation can know what to do.

Rubén,

My JEPC (Jaguar Electronic Parts Catalogue) shows a different number from the one NBCat has found - XR854269 :

Checking the Jaguar Classic Parts website shows it as available:

Low cost repair for you if this is correct.

Thanks Graham,

Now, the problem is:

-If you check the (Jaguar Electronic Parts Catalogue), the piece number 17 is not the same of my piece... the structure of the piece is not the same.

If the seller added the photo of the piece, it would be easier to see which is the correct piece.

Please send me the link to buy the piece, for that price I will buy it and see.

Best regards

@GGG, the vehicle is fitted with an autobox, so that's why the part number you found has a different number, which is for cars with manual gearboxes.

CORRECT - my mistake.

Here's a thread from 2017 where another member was finding it impossible to source XR854268. It has a photo which could help.

I find it hard to believe that a plastic cooling system part such as this restrictor pipe is no longer available from JLR or the aftermarket suppliers.

Perhaps with the broken part and photos, someone can fabricate one from aluminium or steel such as was done with the thermostat housings on the 4.0 litre petrol engines.

It is amazing that this issue was discused on the forums more than two years ago and there doesn't yet appear to be a solution.

It looks the kind of thing a competent plumber could easily fabricate in copper tube with brazed joints!

Dear group,

Finally, I paid a metal worker to create the piece in rustless steel.
Here I add some photos. I just made a trip of 400 km and everything ok.
Thanks everyone for your help.

Great job.

Now you have found someone who can make it, I'm sure you could sell them!
