Default Leaking turbo

Looking for some advice, I recently took my 2.D XType to my garage for the third time regarding an oil leak, all three occasions they tell me the oil is leaking from a pipe coming from the turbo, on one occasion the pipe became detached from the intercooler.
They are telling me I need a new Turbo which he quoted a price of £1017 plus fitting costs.
The Turbo seems to work ok to me, the car boosts ok with no smoke to speak of.
Any ideas anybody I don’t fancy paying that much for a turbo. ?

To get more presice picture, do you know was it same pipe in all cases? (air pipe from turbo to intercooler)
There should not be oil in that pipe, at least in volumes. There are few possibilitys: Your turbo shaft/seal might be weared and oil is leaking on pressure side. Yes, something need to be done, before you enter on "Diesel runaway mode". (second hand turbo?)
Your crankcase ventilation oil separator might have filled up with goose and don´t work anymore or you have signicant blowthru thru piston rings. Again, need to be fixed, risk are runaway.
Correct type of engine oil and correct change intervals are essesntial for any diesel engines. The engine you have on X-type can be easyly driven 800t-1Milj km, but only when serviced correctly.

Thanks for the reply I seem to think it was same pipe on both occasions, he did mention the pipe shouldn’t have oil in it to leak.
sounds like another turbo then thanks for the reply.

You might want to check Ford part pricing as well, since it is same engine than used exsample in Mondeo (very high volumes)
