OBD2 reader for Diesel

I have an X-Type 2.0 diesel with an intermittent glow plug light flashing, I have tried to locate an OBD2 reader but most say not compatible with diesel engines so has anyone had experience with one that is compatible and can recommend?

I got a D900 2018 code reader on ebay very cheap and it reads and clears codes on X-Type Jaguar & gives live data.
