Angry Jaguar E-Pace Front Parking Sensor

Just bought a new Jaguar epace and the front parking sensors are not working. Dealer wants to charge $800 fix, claimimg it's a impact related issue and not covered by warranty. Has anyone had similar issues?

With a dealer? No, my dealer has been super nice to work with. Although they are always booked out for over a month.

Seems like some details are being left out here as I have never heard of a new Jaguar that you just bought by a dealer not being covered by that dealer.

I say this as it seems odd that they think you were in an accident but you don’t.

We bought the car (new) in Feb 2022 from the dealer. With the sensor, they are saying a stone or pebble may have hit the sensor. There has been no accident on the car.

Really don’t think the dealer is responsible for damage to the car. If a tree fell on it and broke a headlight, not really their responsibility.

This is where insurance comes in. Again, not many details proffered, but if the sensor is damaged, call and file a claim with your insurance company. Then just work with them to get it repaired.

If there has been a minor impact, there should be some physical evidence on the front bumper or sensor such as a scratch or paint chip. If all 4 have failed due to impact, it would have to be serious impact with significant associated damage.

To put the quote into context, sensors are 112 UKP each here and likely to be more in the US. They used to be supplied either in black or primer and require colour matching which adds to the cost. A dealer would remove the front bumper to fit them.

Ah. You feel there must be visible damage in order for something to be damaged.
You also feel that all sensors must have been damaged in order for them all to fail.
Thus you lack of willingness to side with the dealer. Consider it possible that one sensor being offline could affect the others.

I see your conundrum. I do hope that you are able to sort it out. It must be frustrating for sure. Hang in there! Ask questions! Maybe try a different dealer and use their opinion against the first dealer (if they rule to your favor of course).

The irony is there are no dents or scratch marks, I noticed the sensors failed just after I had done recommended software upgrade. I don't know if I can trust the word of the dealer.

Proof positive the dealer should perform all software updates.

Although in the (possibly near) future, you won’t have control over that either.

1. YOU did a recommended software upgrade and THEN the front parking aid failed? That's a very different set of circumstances from:
2.
JUST BOUGHT a new Jaguar epace and the front parking sensors are NOT WORKING.
