Jaguar Remote

Jaguar Remote
Hello,
Since Tuesday I'm a happy owner of a E-pace car. I also got the app "Jaguar Remote" where you (at first glance) seem to do a lot of things with, besides when starting the app I got the warning "a few function may not be working due to legal issues in your country" or something like that. Living in Belgium these are the things I can do:
- beep & flashing
- unlocking the car
- ...and that's about it.
The reseller told me I couldn't for instance turn on the air conditioning remotely because it was forbidden in Belgium due to privacy, although I know for sure you can do it on Mercedes cars here in Belgium.
So my question is now: can't it really not be done ? I mean with some little shortcut are things like that
Thanks for your time and regards from Belgium.

Welcome to the forum Smirnoff103,
On other Jaguar models some functions are restricted by market specific modules but the majority only by configuration.
I expect the restrictions on your "Jaguar Remote" will be configuration and it would be possible to amend these with Jaguar Diagnostics. However, a Jaguar Dealer is unlikely to do anything that contravenes legal requirements in your country.

Your first considerations have to be:
1. legality - is the modification compliant with Belgian regulations.
2. warranty - will the modification affect or even invalidate warranty.
Jaguar SDD (Symptom Driven Diagnostics) is available outside the Jaguar Dealer network. Many independents and several forum members (including myself) have it.
The genuine interface cable is manufactured by Drew Technologies in mthe US and there are many Chinese clones available at a fraction of the cost. Using a clone is OK for diagnostics but the advice is to be very wary of using them to reprogram modules.
Jaguar have also recently changed the way the SDD software is provided. The current version is 1.53 and up to version 1.50 it was fully and freely available for download. The core program is still free to download but subsequent versions require a Jaguar TOPIx subscription to download the associated VDF's (Vehicle Definition Files).
Jaguar TOPIx is the online Workshop Manual/Parts Catalogue aimed primarily at Jaguar Dealers but anyone can purchase TOPIx time by the hour, day, week or month. It is expensive but all the information is there.
See General Tech Help for several threads devoted to SDD.
