4.2 gearbox oil pump body set screws
67 OTS 4.2 Gearbox rebuild nearly complete.
What material are the oil pump body set screws supposed to be?
What should the torque be? I ask because the screws are stainless steel and when snug, the oil pump gears bind. When only lightly snug, the pump gears spin freely.
How do I stake the set screws so they do not loosen and stay at correct torque without binding?
None of the manuals elaborate at all on this topic.
Thank you,
Kevin

Congrats on tackling a challenging job (first one I did was over 50 years ago . . . done a few since). Don't you love all those needle rollers.
I fear something is amiss because those screws should be 'snug' . . . actual torque figures should be in the manual . . . but I advise that you check and recheck your re-assembly process and sequence, because I don't recall any need for staking an only partially tightened fixture.
Best wishes,
Ken
