64 xke low oil pressure question
Have a 64 xke that is being restored after setting for 12 years. Runs good now but the oil pressure drops near zero when it is idling. When driving it is around 40#. Is this normal for an older Jag?
If not what is the most common problem to start with on the troubleshooting side? Thanks!!

First off, what is your oil gauge range, 0-60, or 0-100 ? Jaguar fitted 0-100 gauges early on, but so many owners complained of "low oil pressure", they changed to 0-60 so the needle was further over in the range. At idle the 0-100 didn't show much pressure at all.
Of course as a '64, it could be other things like a worn-out oil pump, use of modern "thin" oils, (try 20-50), defective pressure transmitter, or poor seat on the pressure relief valve.
