Hello,
We aquired a 65 series 1 etype a few yrs ago from a gentleman who misplaced all the keys for this car. We have since aquired the other keys except the steering lock key. We are unsure when this lock was put on, car originally was sent to Beruit Lebanon and then to USA. We are the third owners but obviously we cant unlock the steering without this key. Are all the keys the same by chance....a long shot I know........but worth knowing. ??
Obviously we dont want to attempt to take off and ruin anything, if we can get a key from somewhere. Ive searched all the paperwork we got with the car, which all goes back to original sale, and w have also registered it with a heritage certificate and I dont see anything.
Thanks for any input
Sharon

It would help if you could post a photo of the ignition key. if this is separate from the stereing lock. I would expect these to be the same, but this is a Jaguar you're talking about !! The steering lock assembly is part number C27046 as shown on SNG Barratt's website and is NLA. but they may be able to helo you with the key. If the lock assembly is also the ignition switch, as seem likely from the parts diagram, then if you know the key number, you can order one. However you may have to just dismantle the steering column to extract the key barrel, as the number will be on it.

I agree with Thorswhisper. It's difficult to buy matching keys from numbers on old E Types, but I had a complete set of spares made up for me by a locksmith. Didn't cost a fortune. Where I had a key missing altogether, he just came out with a huge bunch of similar-type keys and found a near-fit, then made it fit!
