Brakes dragging after short drive

Brakes dragging after short drive
66 E Type, after 10 mile drive brakes seem to start dragging, will release if shake steering wheel right to left sometimes. Believe they would eventually lock up if I drove further. Seems to free up after parked for a while. Suggestions on a fix or what the problem actually is.

There are several possible reasons for your brakes to be dragging. Do you know if it’s the front or rear brakes? It should be obvious from the heat generated by the dragging brake pads. A laser thermometer, available for peanuts from Harbor Freight, will help identify the dragging brake.
Start at the master cylinder and verify that the plunger retracts fully out of the associated master cylinder when you release the brake peddle. If not, a simple master cylinder rebuild is called for.
Next, examine the flexible brake hoses…are they old? Even if they look okay on the outside they may have started to disintegrate on the inside, preventing brake fluid from returning to the master cylinder.
If those components check out you’re probably looking at a brake caliper rebuild…a serious undertaking if it’s the rear brakes.
Keep us posted.
Good luck,
Alan
