I've got a 69 E 2+2 auto.... What engine years/cars will be a pliug and play swap?
I'd like to pick up a late model 6 cyl to drop in and drive the car while I rebuild the original motor.... I'm sure I'll have to switch the intake exhaust from my motor to the new motor.....

In general any 4.2L will work, but some are easier than others.
Several guys on the Jag-lovers forum have said they have used engines sourced from "late" model SIII XJ6s, minus the fuel injection of course. I think you will also have to change the water pump and engine sump (oil pan), as well as the exhaust and intake manifolds. If you had a 4 speed you would also need to change the flywheel. You could convert to a manual with the engine out, or maybe use a later slush box.
The fuel injected heads have bigger valves and the block is supposed to be stronger, so there are real advantages to using a later engine. Cam and valve timing remained essentially the same, IIRC, and the SIII has a v. good electronic distributor that could be used as well.
