E Type Gearbox Lube Specification

My 1961 E Type (non-synchro first, Moss box) shifts better after I've been on the road for an hour or so, trans fully warmed up.
I am wondering if a different gear lube would make it shift better, even when it's not up to temp.
An older discussion here on the Forum suggested 1.75 quarts of either:
Royal Purple 75W-90 Max Gear Synthetic, or
Redline MT-90
Are those still solid recommendations?
Thanks,
Mark

I use Redline MTL gearbox lube in my 1964 Moss box. Redline MT-90 is more appropriate for the later fully-synchronized gearbox.
And, yes, cold shifting is improved with the MTL.
Please be advised, however, that MTL has less viscosity (70W80) than MT-90 (75W90) and will therefore increase any leaks your gearbox may have. It’s a trade-off.
good luck,
Alan
