fuel delivery > creating a vacuum
Hey Guys,
Recently tried to fire up the 'ole E-Type after a long long 16 month nap. It fired quickly, ran for couple minutes and died.....
Diagnosis:
Fuel level is about a 1/4 tank. Ran the pump for 1 minute or 2,, the pump ran fast, as opposed to slow(er), as when under pressured. Noticed the glass filter bowl was not filling. Removed the fuel pick-up, all looked normal?
I discovered it does pump fuel, as I poured fuel into the pickup with the pump running and you could tell from the sound it was pumping and the glass bowl filled. However, it seems to lose this prime.
So, do I need to create a vacuum up front with the pump running to draw fuel, so as, to prime, you think?
Thanks for any thoughts...
