Help 71 v12 no power
I purchased a nice 2 owner 41K mile 71 2+2 auto in Sept and it has been in the shop since. It was stored for 10 years and the gas turned to tar. Here's what the shop has done so far. Removed and cleaned tank and fuel lines, rebuilt carbs, installed new fuel pump, filters and spark plugs. Installed new Reopus H ignition. The car starts and idles but doesn't have enough power to get out of its own way and takes about a mile to get up to about 60mph max (top speed). This is my first Jaguar and I'm beginning to get frustrated. I love the car but it seems that NOBODY in my area knows how to make these run well and be a dependable driving car. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
Mike
Also, on the Corvette forum it is simple to post pics from photobucket. Is it possible to post to this forum?

just guessing from here re possibilities.....1. is the advance working on distributor? 2. compression good on all cyliders? 3.fire to all cylinders?
can tell you that my mechanic tried to upgrade my v12 with electronic ignition - i dont remeber precise reasons but as accomplished as he is, he could not make it happen and ended up reinstalling points- after checking the first 3 simple ones, you might try backtracking to original ignition to see if that cures you- nobody likes going backward, but.....

The twelve cylinder engine is a double six. It has two overlapping firing orders. Make sure it is timed to the proper bank, and make sure the wires are installed in the proper order such as 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B and etc. not in that order but should be marked somewhere on covers or in manual. The distributor fly weights due rust and become stiff, converting to electronic is not necessary.
