Lightweight E-type
#2
Indeed it is, and made by Jaguar Special Vehicle Operations. Way back,, Jaguar allocated chassis numbers for a run of lightweight E-types, but didn't make all the cars, so 60 years later, Jaguar are now making cars for the remaining chassis numbers. I believe it is about 6 cars and every one has been sold for around £1million.
They are now going to build nine XKSS cars that were lost due to a fire at the factory in 1955.

Hmmm ... Jaguar Heritage may be a little economical with the truth on the XKSSs "lost due to a factory fire". I have it on authority from some of those there at the time that the cars were D-Types. Not a single one had been converted to a XKSS.
It is true that orders were being taken for XKSSs (modified D-Types) but Jaguar would have also accepted orders for D-Types and so none of them had been converted at the time of the fire.
It is therefore false to say that nine XKSS cars were lost in the factory fire - they were D-Types.
