loose post
After replacing points and condenser, I noticed that the post holding the points in place has become loose. This is messing up the gap and points are not always closing. The usual suppliers do no seem to carry the base plate anymore. Other than removal and attempting a repair, does anyone know where base plates might be found?

Thanks, Alfred

Essentially, you just replace the whole contact set.
This supplier is reliable as far as I know. There may be others of course, but the price is low enough not to be worth searching for the last 1% !
SNG Barratt - The Ultimate Jaguar Parts Specialist
The post is riveted on as I remember, so you could try to re-secure it with a punch and hammer, but frankly is it worth it when you can buy new for so little money ?

Fraser,
As the OP pointed out, the contact set doesn't include the points pivot shaft. That looks to be part of either #13 or #14 in Barratt's catalog illustration (since the parts description cleverly does not reference the illustration number, good luck guessing which!)
In any event, it appears neither of those parts is available "online", by which I'm guessing means "not at all".
Regards,
Retro
ps .... Alfred,
Unless you are really hung up on originality, now would be a good time to pitch all that for a quality electronic ignition system.
Lo and behold, there's even one on the Barratt's page!
