New Member - Opinions on '68 Roadster
Hi All -
New member here and am looking forward to joining the community soon with the purchase of my first e-type. I'm in the process now of getting up to speed on the basics and want to purchase a well sorted out (restored or older restoration) Series 1 or 1.5 roadster.
I found this one below and it looks great but I want to ask for your opinions on price (is it priced fairly or too high) and also if it looks good in terms of the restoration. I don't know when it was done or by who (but am trying to find that out).
Thanks in advance!

Looks like a good example. The only things I can find are the door cards are showing some wear. Also the paint work looks a little dull but that can always be attended to. Lastly, there are no pictures of the underside. Make sure you get some pictures of the underside, there could be some surprises.

Hyman sells quality cars. Mark is a genuine car buff with a good and stable business. If you watch the auctions, you will see Mark in the sidelines, unlit stogey and trademark shaved head. Great guy, have known him for years. He will not treat you unfairly and he is negotiable on prices. If you have questions, he will answer, and he will invite you to bring an expert Jag person ( if you can find one better than him ) to help you evaluate the car. Buying from Mark will be a no pain situation before and after sale. I only live 30 minutes from his place, have been there a few times.

Price equates to about £82k, so in the ball-park. Only a personal inspection can link price to condition, but photos show a very nice looking car, one that you will cherish for years and years. However, as stated here, best to ask vendor to get it up on a lift so you can see for yourself what it looks like. These cars in the late 60s were very prone to rust, both body shell, hood, and engine cradles. Fixing all this is costly and must have been done to support that price.
Any car on sale at this price should have sheaves of documents re the restoration work to support the requested price.
If it all pans out OK, you're a lucky man to be able to buy such an icon of motoring !

No - your rubber shift boot is probably correct as is. The shift boot went from leather to rubber at serial numbers 1E10360 (OTS) and 1E30350 (FHC). Then it went from rubber to ambla (vinyl) at 1E13589 and 1E33549. I'm guessing that your serial number is between 1E30350 and 1E33549.
