Pertronix Electronic Ignition

Pertronix Electronic Ignition
I am thinking about installing an electronic ignition from Pertronix on my Series 1 '66 E-Type 2+2 with 115k miles. The car runs nicely, but my idle is way too high between 1200 -1500 RPM after the engine is warm It is also takes a while for the engine to fire when it is cold, about 15 seconds with full choke and no throttle. My question is, will the new electronic ignition resolve these issues? I know the idle speed can be a result of many issues other than ignition too. The car runs fine at low and high speed. What cost am I looking at? I called my Jaguar parts supplier and they recommended the igniter within the distributor cap and a new coil, total cost would be $112.67 and $45.67 respectively. Will I notice an improvement and what will be my total cost including installation.
Thanks for the help

I've run a Pertronix sparkie in my "souped up" '65 Mustang vert and in my 2+2 for years. Smoother running, dependable starts and no points to adjust ever so often. However, if one were to install the Ignitor 1, do not leave the Key in the "ON" position as guys have reported this will burn out the "sparkie" unit. Others have reported early failures. Thus far, I have not experienced any failures. But......... just in case, I carry a "turn-key" setup in the glove box of the Mustang.
I've been running the Mustang Pertronix (Ignitor1) since 2003 and the Jag's since a few years afterward.
Ok, this being stated....
High idle can something as simple as a vac leak, advanced timing, dirty throttle linkage. Check all of these, don't spend the money on an Pertronix sparkie thinking it will solve your idle issues. Also, be a good idea to perform an engine vac check.
