Removal of gas tank '69 FHC
First,I meant '65 FHC-not '69.
I'm Almost there, but still so far away. I've got everything unbolted, except the infamous gas tank sump underneath has resisted all efforts to come unbolted in order to raise the tank out. The tank is empty, and I've tried using d Blaster etc on the threads below and inside tank at sump- trying to spray up in treads. Absolutely nothing.
Options?
1. Fill tank with some water and heat up sump from below
2. Saw off sump somehow below and up high as possible.
3. Other suggestions?
Sure would like to avoid the first and don't want to chance a fire. The bottom "nut/bolt" in middle of sump is rounded off, so that's out of question. I've used pipe wrench, extender/cheater bar with zero movement.

Even if you cut it off, how would you remove the threaded portion, without damaging the tank, once tank is out?....
I think the pipe wrench is the right approach, but you need a really big one, around the body of the sump (it will be destroyed), and a really long pipe....This is assuming you want to save the tank....If you don't, then cutting it off is a good option.

Finally, it's off! After soaking on top inside of sump and from below up where the sump screws in over two weeks, plus using a pipe wrench on the sump. Today the pipe wrench with a long extension/cheater bar on the handle did the trick. The sump actually crushed a bit, and only when the pipe wrench was located on the bottom of the sump, where it is "solid" did it start to turn. Hope this helps others to know what to do.
