torque steer on hard acceleration

Some things to Check....
Hey Law !
A great club to join although can drive you a bit crazy. Under accel with this problem sounds a bit like rear suspension issues. Start with the easy stuff, check the rear sway bar links for perished rubber bushes, the bushes that join the body up high to the bar. Next check the rubber trailing links where they join the rear suspension and the forward mount that bolt to the body.
Now the more difficult, check the 4 V blocks that join the rear cage to the body, not uncommon for them to fail with age. Complete a detailed inspection of all rear end components, half shaft mounting bolts both inner and outer. Really obscure, take a paint brush handle (wooden Please ) and plink the spokes on both wire wheels (looking for broken spokes ). Check the u joints for play. Check for collapsed shocks or springs on one side.Lastly in the rear check to see if the tires are a match. I once had a batch of the same tires and one had a different side wall feel and a horrible yaw under acceleration.
Check steering rack for rubber mount security. Even seen an owner that thought that the 2 security bolts needed to be tightened.
Let me know the results of your search and if you've found it.
Cheers Robert
Does your have covered lenses on the headlights?
Inquiring minds want to know!?

torque steer on hard acceleration
Robert:
Thanks so much for all the suggestions. I am not a mechanic, but will pass on to my guy all of your suggestions. I have an appointment around Nov. 1 for a number of issues. The torque steer problem has existed for years. Maybe I can eliminate it with one of your fixes.
I have hade this E-Type since new in '67. Pale primrose as was yours. Black interior. And it does have the headlight lenses.

Great to Hear....
S Law
I've lived, breathed and dis-assembled and rebuilt E-types since 1970. Sounds like you have a great survivor. Most of these cars get over-restored and in my opinion, ruined by all that. You have as the steward of this great motorcar a solemn duty to preserve it in as original state as possible so other may enjoy it as you have.
I would be willing to helps in a guided path in the re- invigoration of this snapshot of the 60's history.
I stand ready to help.
Good luck
Robert

Doug and Robert-I will definitely pass your suggestions on to my mechanic when he has room in the shop for my E. Thanks again to both of you for the input. The car is nice and I want to keep it that way. Send me your email addresses if you would like to see a couple of pics. My email is schochlaw@northstate.net.
