Default Turn signal problem on 66 XKE Roadster

I replaced the steering wheel bushings and am unable to get the turn signals working. The four-way flashers work. There is constant power to the back of the turn signal switch but nothing from the switch forward. Since the turn signals normally do not operate unless the ignition switch is on should there be power to the switch when the ignition switch of off? Does power run from the turn signal switch to the four way switch or is it from the or is it from the four way switch to the turn signal switch? Thank you for any response

Hi Morey,
It appears that power is supplied via the ignition switch to:
1. the Hazard Switch
then
2. the Turn Signal Flasher Unit
then
3. the Turn Signal Switch.

If you get nothing on the Turn Signal Light side of the Turn Signal Switch, the problem may be the Flasher Unit. Try a Flasher Unit from a known working system. There is a separate Flasher Unit for the Hazard Light circuit, so make sure you identify the correct unit to test and replace.

Power is supplied directly from the battery, through a fuse to the Hazard Flasher unit. Accordingly, the Hazard Flashing circuit should work irrespective of the ignition switch status. Do the Hazard (Turn Signal) Lights work with the Hazard Flasher switch turned on?

Regards,

Bill
