XKE brakes
I recently acquired a 1969 xke that has been sitting for about 20-25 years. I would like to update the brakes with new hoses and any other brake parts that would be needed. I know that the original brakes used the old British brake fluid and I would like to convert them to use the current DOT fluid. What all do I need to do this conversion?

All the parts you need to rebuild the E-Type (XKE) brake system are available, (at least here in the UK). Most UK suppliers trade on the internet and will send parts to the US; there will also be US-based suppliers as the car is such a popular classic.
I would also suggest you replace all steel brake pipes with cupro-nickel, (called Kunifer) and brass fittings so corrosion is prevented. These are available already made up correctly. All threads on the system will be Imperial, not Metric so take care when purchasing.

Being as 69s are series 2 cars with the best type of xke brakes and your car has sat for so many years the master cylinder, vacuum tank, activation cylinder, bellows booster, and all that other stuff, ( resevoirs, lines and the fittings) could all be upgraded to a simple more efficient system.........see e-type brake activation.............
