Have you used a voltmeter or test light to verify the 12v wire is the culprit? If so, you might consider running a separate wire that should be easy to hide. I believe that would be less work and the original wire can be unplugged at both ends. Other possible troubles: the fuel pump is isolated from its mounting bracket and relies on a ground wire that is commonly damaged or you may be suffering from failure of the pump points, a very common headache. Good luck.

I haven't checked out the wire with an ohm meter yet but I have given the pump a 12v source and it does work properly. There is power to the pump lead at the connector on the right side of the dash. The pump is a new aftermarket one. I have followed the wire loom from the dash and it enters the body in the foot-well of the back seat. We have tried to fish a new wire from there to the trunk with no luck.
