Xke-series 3 2+2 fhc-automatic transmission advise on cost of repair / replace?
I have decided my 401k needs some abuse, my transmission has been weak for a few years.
Try and repair the original or buy a reman or update?
Cost is a factor. Any useful comments are greatly appreciated.
All matching numbers, rust free, 38,000 miles. But it is mine and I love the little beast.

Welcome REBARLEE,
Wow, only 38,000 miles? and numbers matching? I would first try to have it rebuilt so that you can keep the "Numbers matching" status. If the condition is such that it is not rebuildable, then replace it but make sure too keep the old one. Personally I would also consider changing it to a 5 speed if you prefer a manual shift. But if you do this, again, make sure to keep the old automatic numbers matching trans.
Good luck and keep enjoying the little beast.
Bill.

Find a reputable Transmission Shop that will work on you transmission.(I believe it is a Borg-Warner 20, I have a 73 2+2) and have your transmission inspected. With your low miles, previous owner may never had it serviced. A fluid flush and a new filter may be all that is required. A dirty filter will restrict fluid transfer which could be your problem.
