XKE Update Parts
As I've worked to update the 1970 XKE I'm working on and I've run into some interesting updated parts I figured I'd share:
One of the most interesting is a removable wheel hub. Getting in and out of the car is a royal pain so I went looking to see if anyone made a removable steering wheel hub for the car. They do and you can find it here:
Superspoke Steering Wheels
I don't like the Series II headlights and found two kits to convert a Series II to a Series I with covered headlights. The first kit is both cheaper and, I think, better looking. The guy that sells it can be reached at: marek@dognextdoor.com (picture below).
The other is more correct and out of the US but it is also more expensive and it looks more difficult. Series 1 Covered Headlamp Conversion Flanges | Monocoque Metalworks
I don't like wire wheels, but I found an outfit in the UK that makes decent looking spline mag wheels to order for the car (both traditional racing and non-traditional spoke like models in custom colors, I'm thinking of this wheel with a black center: Classic Alloy Wheels DB3 - Image Wheels
(Waiting to order it until I can see how much extra space I can get from rolling the wheel wells).
Electric Power steering: So much better than hydraulic but not a cheap date: Jaguar Electric Power Steering Kit - 5527
I found this outfit in the UK which does updated heat shields for the brake reservoir and they have mounts to put Miata seats in the car (apparently a popular conversion given the stock seats kind of suck): Fosseway Performance - Enhanced Classic Car Braking, Cooling and Electrical System UpgradesFosseway Performance | Enhanced Braking, Cooling and Electrical Systems for British and Continental Classic Cars
