Somewhere on this site, is the formula for the 1988-1990 Jaguar Racing Green HEN-701 paint. He-l if I can find it again. Had a dent the size of a nickle on the rin of my headlight area . Right on the crease. Impossible to have done the " paintless " repair. All fixed now , and Ive used a airbrush to paint. I'ts only about a 2 inch x 2 inch sq area all said and done. Long story short, 4 different pints of paint,4 different suppliers, 2 of which used the " spectrum paint match machine " and none are even close. All much lighter. Not a shade or two but a totally differnt green.
Their formulas for 701-HEN just do not work. My car has original paint, and in all areas but this, it's perfect. Not even ascratch or any swirls. Thats why I'm trying to stay away from a complete hood / bonnet repaint. It's on the hood / bonnet part of the headlight rim. So the mismatch sticks out like a sore thumb. I really do not want to send it out for a repaint of the complete hood for something that should be sooooo simple.( but then again, a complete repaint of the hood gives me a excuse to install vents into the hood ) Needless expense, but a wish I could type of thing.
Is it at all possible my paint code shown on the car in all areas could be wrong ?
If they can.t match now, how will they match the whole hood to the rest of the car ?
Does anyone know where the link is, or where I can find it ? This person went through a lot of trials and tribulations to get it right
Thanks
