Default Any 20d owners?

So I bought a 20d with 59k miles and with cpo but now I feel like I made a mistake. I’m taking a delivery soon but I hear this timing chain issues that it almost looks like it’ll happen guaranteed.

any high mileage 20d owners that had timing chain issues? I’d rather it fail within that CPO so I can get it fixed, got 2 years and 40k miles to go till it expires. If I knew it, I would’ve gone for 20t. I wanted mpg and diesel was a sensible choice but I guess not?

I am new to the F-Pace my self having just bought one registered in 2016, a 20d with 75K on the clock. This is the first i heard of the timing chain issue with it. However I am not unfamiliar with the issue as a whole - its the long life service that is the killer, might be ok if you stick to it ridged with top notch oil and filter, and drive like miss daisy. My advice would be go back to the every year or 10K miles for an oil change, use OEM filter and top grade oil for peace of mind.I know with Audi they have a 1 way valve fitted t the filter so that oil will stay in the engine for start up when it has been sitting a while.

What????... Where did you read timing chain issue on Jaguar's 2.0 diesel engines? Diesel engines are very popular in Europe. To what I read in a lot of forums, the most common issue on diesel engines is DPF.

Here are 3 videos from Jaguar:

1) The Gas/Petrol engine & the newer Diesel engines according to Jaguar

2) Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) as defined by Jaguar
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=euVnAvl88U8The

3) Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) according to Jaguar

Default High mileage owner

I own a 2017 jaguar fpace 20d
Approx 154,000 km

For the first 3 years. I loved my car
for the last 5 months the car has been nothing but problems and is literally a disaster
engine oil leaks
multiple def issues including next item
failed def fluid nozzle leasing to new scr
as of yesterday. No power and black smoke coming out of the exhaust
which i am now told
failed pcv valve
seized turbo no oil getting to it
replace intercooler
this latest batch is over 4000 in repairs
the scr repairs was over 5000 in repairs

i did purchase the extended warranty to 160000km
purchased from the dealer when i bought my brand new car. Not knowing it was 3rd party
everything is a battle with them
all sensors are excluded
all exhaust system is excluded
and now they want to deny coverage for the turbo and intercooler because they want to blame everything on the pcv which is not covered

of course. They don’t cover dealer rate nor diagnostic and they have a deductible
and you pay for repairs first and them submit to them and hope they will cover something

I have owned a 2018 2.0d since new and I have a couple of things to share. First, the Turbo went out at 59k miles. Not sure what caused it or if it was repairable but Jaguar replaced it under warranty. Secondly, an idler pulley crapped out at 65k miles. That's been about it. I'm at 81k miles and I love the performance and efficiency of the small diesel. I intend to keep it a while but I also have an extended warranty.

I've read a few stories of timing chain failure on the diesel. When it happens it's a major and expensive disaster so affected owners are inevitably going to make a lot of noise on the topic. I think you need to look at this in proportion. It appears to be a tiny fraction of the number of units in service and far from a 'guaranteed' occurence.
