Code P0013-00

Code P0013-00
An issue I've been tracking for three months. Shortly after refilling with standard UK 10% ethanol fuel, the CEL illuminated. A scan indicated P0013 which has no extended codes.
Always one to go for the low cost solution first, I checked the harness but found no faults. Cleared the code which put the CEL off but it subsequently came back after a few more miles. This suggested a new VCT was required. Mysteriously the CEL went off without further intervention from me and I thought it may be the fuel grade. However, after refilling with premium 5% ethanol fuel, exactly the same thing happened.
After several refills, I've determined the code is always the same and the CEL goes off by itself when the fuel level drops below half a tank. Clearly this can have nothing to do with camshaft actuator or VCT.
Anyone experienced this strange phenomenon?

Hello GGG
I've searched a discussion on this forum and found 1. Maybe this can give you some highlights? A Jaguar recall on F-Pace VCT?

Sadly, the recall doesn't extend to the UK where JLR get away with considerably less aftersales responsibilities than they do in the US. As it is also time limited and expires in the US in October 2022, I'll include the relevant bulletin from your linked posts here for future reference:
Although it refers to 'MIL illuminated with Variable Camshaft Timing Diagnostic Trouble Codes', it doesn't list the actual codes. However, it would be too much of a co-incidence for the issue I have to be unrelated to this cause.
