F-Pace assembly process

F-Pace assembly process
Anybody know how long it takes from the published "in assembly" time to the time the vehicle is completed? Our F-Pace, ordered 12/26/19 was estimated to go "into production" next Friday, 01/31/20. I'm not familiar what that means, in is that the date of "final assembly", when EVERYTHING is assembled, or the first day that the various components for the car begin to be put together, for example the body shell begins to be welded together, or the engine begins to be assembled, etc.
Any thoughts?

It means you can NOT change the details of the car anymore. The orders for the parts have been send to the contractors.
So you better page through a [paper] acessoiries brochure, as I missed several following the online configurator..
For example : are ventilated seats standard or optional in NY ??? After 31/1 you can not adapt it...

Same day as mine! I think it's the day the build starts in the factory - the last chance to change anything was way back in December.
I think the whole build process is of the order of a day or two. Mine is scheduled for delivery 1 Mar 2020. The intervening 4 weeks is for transportation, pre-delivery inspection etc.
Can't wait!

Actually, I made a mistake in my original post. We didn't sign our order on 12/26, we actually signed it on 12/20. The 26th was the day my dealership e-mailed me a print out of the order, and I looked at that date on the e-mail, and went with it, when I wrote my original post. However, 1/31 is indeed the scheduled begin date of production, and 3/31 is the scheduled date for our F-Pace to arrive at the dealership.

So both our cars are being built on the same day, but it’s going to take a month longer to get to you - in the USA?
Be patient!
I’ll let you know how I get on with mine!

If the POE is the same as when we ordered our "late, great 2012 XJ-L", it's Baltimore, MD, for the east coast bound cars. After unloading from the ship, I believe that the vehicles get second inspection, to insure there's been no damage in shipping. Then they go into another holding area, until enough vehicles bound in the direction of my dealer are on site, they then get loaded onto a truck or trucks, and then make the 7-8 hour trip to my dealer.
On the day our XJ arrived at the dealer, they called us and asked if we wanted to see it come off the truck. Apparently, the truck driver called about 15 minutes ahead of his arrival, to make sure that there was someone there, to accept the car. So we had time to get there before he did, we watched him pull up to the dealer, and we watched him back it off the trailer. That was fun to see. One thing that puzzled me, however, was that the truck arrived between 9 and 10AM, as I recall. Given the 7-8 hours that it takes from Baltimore, as I previously mentioned, I'll have to assume that he stopped somewhere along the way, and spent the night.
If we have the opportunity to see our F-Pace arrive and get unloaded, we'll certainly take advantage of it, if we get word in enough time. (FWIW, the "delivery time" on our XJ, was only about 6 weeks, from signing the order, until we took delivery)

I thought it was something along that line, or a case where a "special order" that is truly a sold car, and not just one for dealer stock, gets "bumped up" in the production queue.

I ordered an R Sport 30t on 22 Oct 19 (from Australia). I received a letter dated 18 Dec 19 saying it had been made and giving me the VIN number. I later received another letter telling me it was on a (named) ship – a vehicle carrier – bound for Australia. It is due to arrive in Fremantle (via Durban, South Africa) on 15 Feb 20. The dealer says I should receive it on 21 Feb (after pre-delivery, licensing, etc). Should be fun! BTW, you can track the ship your car is on if you know the name. Just google “ship tracker”.

@J AU__ Hi J . Welcom to the forum. You are supposed to introduce yourself first [ https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...=newthread&f=5 ].
Its really another thing living in Oz. For me its just two weeks between production end and delivery. I live in the Netherlands only 80Km from Rotterdam,
which is less then 150 miles from the UK harbour where the cars are loaded onboard for the continent...
My last purchase is a 25t R-Sport 'premium edition' , just loaded with options from the factory. The 30t is € 8000,- more expensive here, due to CO2 taxes...
Please add your location [ Oz is close enough], and the model/type of car in your signature. Its easier for other forum members to reply if you have questions.
This forum is quite 'silent'. More lively is the UK version. Please also introduce there first too [ https://www.fpaceforums.co.uk/viewforum.php?f=7 ].
Cheers,
Dan

Thanks very much, Dan. I’m sorry for breaching protocol. I’ve joined the other forum and posted and introductory comment.
Yes, Australia is a long way from most places – but that has its advantages, I guess.
The car I ordered is an R Sport 30t: Eiger grey with black pack and black 20” wheels.
Kind regards,
John.

I e-mailed my sales rep, earlier today, and he confirmed that our "F" in now in the US, Baltimore POE, I'm assuming. Delivery is being projected for 10-12 days from now. As crazy as this sounds, we originally were advised that the "wait time" for a special order, was 12-14 weeks, so we ordered accordingly, the plan was for the car to arrive after the snow and road salt were done for the season. Looks like that isn't going to happen....

@leadfoot4
I think they are rounding of the production of the present model. The face-lift is due for may and they might even switch platforms to create the opportunity
for a EV or PHEV version. This means changing programming for the factory and a pre-production run. If they want to start that in march, little time is left.

Another update, regarding "projected scheduling"......
I was just "knocking around" on my local Jaguar dealer's website, last evening, and wound up looking at the other F-paces that they had in stock. I'm going down the list, and start reading the specs/options for one of them, and I think, "Damn, that sure looks like the one we ordered, but ours isn't due in for another 3-4 days"!! It was too late to check it out, yesterday, so I called over there today, to see what's going on. The sales manager (who I deal with) is off this week, because school is out and he wanted to spend some time with his children, quite understandably. However, it so happened that the woman who answered the phone, is also the person that checks in the cars as they arrive, and relegates them into inventory. Yes, it IS our F-Pace, and it's appearance on the website was because she simply put it there, like she would to any car that arrived.
So, it's in even earlier than the previously adjusted arrival date said it would be. We'll probably pick it up Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. There's no hurry, as it came in a full month ahead of what we expected, and we're supposed to get some really crappy weather within the next several days. However, I did take a ride over to look at it, and it looks good, and most importantly, undamaged.
