Considering the ridiculous complexity of the "official " procedure for filter re: and re:, I bet this is how the dealerships do it too.

I can understand, MAYBE, taking the old filter out that way, but installing the new one in a similar fashion?

No freaking way!!
Just wait until you need to change one yourself. It's an absurd process for a cabin filter replacement. Jaguar engineers get a FAIL on this one.
