Default Has anyone actually towed with their F Pace?

I'm interested in purchasing, but light towing capability is a must. Currently have an Audi Q7 TDI diesel (~400 lb/ft trq) that I use to tow a small trailer with 2 Harley's. Total weight of the trailer with bikes is around 2,000 lbs.

I'm curious how the F Pace would handle the tow. The Q7 pulls it effortlessly. Anyone here have experience towing with their F Pace?

TIA

Are you serious? People don't buy luxury British SUVs for towing, not here in L.A. anyway.

I am very serious. My Audi Q7 and my Yukon Denali before that towed very capably. Those cars each have a self leveling air ride suspension that makes easy work of a small trailer. I don't expect any heavy or large loads, just a small single axle.

I live in redneck country lol. We love our motorcycles.

Bikes don't belong on trailers any more than house do. You bought them to ride 'em...

Nice house! Good luck with your new vehicle search. I need to add a hitch to my wife's Subaru so I can transport my bike to the track.

I concur with you in general but I'm not putting my 18 y/o on an 7-8 hr bike ride, especially when it's raining. That would not be a smart move. Trailering has its purpose.

I do not own an F-Pace but I have the same engine in XE.

2000lbs should not be a problem at all. However, it won't be as effortless or quiet as towing with a V8 TDI. Be ready to rev the engine much higher. V6 SC makes good power from 3.5-4K rpms.

And here's another reason to tow my bikes. This was my trip home from FL today.

You'll be fine on all fronts. Yes, it's a 6-cylinder, so you lose some low-end torque, but it still has 332 ft-lb. (318 for the 2.0L diesel) Plenty. Meanwhile the official towing capacity is 5,290. You can even put gas in those hogs.

I have a F-Pace with 5500 lbs of towing. I have towed my XK8 to shows. I had to get trailer brakes put on my F-pace. Towing anything over 4000 lbs require trailer brakes.

There is a "Towing Receiving Package" for about $1,480, and a hitch for $332. I didn't get it, since I have no need, but I wouldn't have any qualms about the F-Pace ability to handle a load. I believe I've seen compatible aftermarket packages on Amazon, but you'd have to confirm (and get it installed).

BTW, another consideration is the roof rails. They can come in handy and can't be added later.

We have the factory hitch on ours. Also had it on our previous '17 S. They tow really well. Superchargers are great for low end torque increase. I would recommend the OEM hitch to aftermarket for towing loads. It includes a module that works with the ECU and TCU for torque vectoring, shift points, etc. which are important if doing anything more than installing a bike rack.

Yes, I think it would be best to purchase the towing package with it. Want to do some research on the engines/transmissions, but I am happy to hear that they will 'pass the muster.' Really appreciate the information!

You can add the roof rails later...I've done it! It involves dropping the headliner a few inches, un-bolting the body colored roof strips and bolting on the new ones. If anyone wants to do this DO NOT buy the cheap Chinese aftermarket junk. Search ebay etc for an OEM set. The Chinese ones are cosmetic only and I wouldn't trust them to hold a roof box.

Speaking of roof boxes............saw a Limo today with all sorts of antennas on it and a round disk attached to the top (covered at least a third of the roof)............no idea who that was

My wife and I own a F-PACE S in addition to an E-PACE that came from the factory equipped with the towing package. It’s fantastic. When the trailer lights are plugged in the rear parking sensors become deactivated. The marks on backup camera even account for the additional length of a trailer. While I can’t say that the transmission shift program is changed to account for the additional drag & weight once the trailer lights are plugged into the E-PACE and F-PACE, I would be surprised if the program doesn’t change.

Can this be added after the fact or does it need to be ordered at the time of purchase with a new vehicle? I’m looking at a lovely F Pace SVR and have some toy’s I’d like to take to the track.

My wife and I traded in our BRG 2018 F-PACE S for a 2023 FP SVR. The "18 came equipped from the factory with a tow package. Our '23 did not. In a few months I will look into the cost of retrofitting a complete tow package on our FP SVR. Jaguar literature only lists SVRs up to 2021; however, I'll enquire about the SVR with our favorite Jaguar service advisor and parts guy. I'm hoping that the only issue is that Jaguar hasn't updated its website & literature. If need be, I'll look to Ford since the towing module is a Ford part.
