Our Subaru hauls dogs, handcrafted pottery, sporting gear, and whatever other cargo needs to be moved from Point A to Point B in all sorts of weather and road conditions. So bang-for-the-buck factored heavily into the decision of what SUV to acquire based upon our needs. Maintenance is easy and routine. I don't need or want an overly-expensive Jaguar vehicle to fill this role in our fleet. So to each his/her own....
I'll grant you that choosing a spouse requires a very different set of criteria. For most folks, anyway....

Haha I doubt many luxury SUV/crossover owners will stoop their vehicles so low for such everyday utility or off-road excursions to some rugged terrains as seen in TV ads that always crack me up.... not the Jaguar F-Pace or the Bentley Bentayga.
Which gives me an idea for a new thread - "How many of you would really haul dogs, cats and work gear in your F-Pace?"

That's exactly what I use my Land Rover for. Plus boat towing duty.

The LR3's, LR4's, Discos yes, probably not the higher-end Rangies. But then, today's upmarket RR's are not the same utilitarian RR's from 15-20 year's ago. I have never seen a Range Rover towing stuff here in L.A.
I do like the look of the F-Pace compared to any other SUV's and if I were in the market for one, it would be first on my list. However, I don't go off-road so the extra clearance is not needed or wanted. I wish JLR would bring the XF SportBrake pictured below to North America. You get all the utility or more of an SUV with the performance of a premium sports sedan, and better looks to boot (subjectively of course). I have come to accept that the N.A. market is not there due to soccer moms everywhere wanting high sight lines regardless of the compromise in fuel-consumption, safety and handling.
The manufacturer that manages to make wagons/estates/sportbrakes cool again will be ahead of the curve when fuel-efficiency combined with utility become more top of mind.
love the SportBrake! Low and mean, especially in black. Reminds me a bit of the Magnum I had a few years ago, 5.7L V8 which I supercharged and customized the front end.

I read, I looked I bought....without a hesitation, ordered an F-Pace on the spot through the Jaguar USA site and was pleased to know it is in the pipe for me for late summer.
Problem is the lack of reality in Ca. Just bustin folks. Back east, I see luxury SUV's doing their job quite often. My X5 hauls furniture, Home Depot trips, Kayaks , boats etc. Tires all the time. Yea, it gets dirty but that's what vacuums are for. My wife loves them, but the small tank is a MAJOR negative for this long distance traveler used to 550-600 mile range on his X35d that also hauls a$$ when needed. I do a door to door 375 mile trip non -stop for 20yrs and want that 2-4 gallon reserve when I get there to get back down to gas up on way home. at 16.6 gal, if its lucky to get 25 mpg (Tata mileage figures are a bit of a laugh these days) I'm deep in the fuel light zone and in 0 degree winter I'll never see 25, maybe 22-23 in reality. My claimed 30mpg Evoque is lucky to see 25 on highway at our 80mph runs and that's only a 2L.
