Has anyone used a mirror tap for a radar detector and if so can you tell/show me where you plugged in? Jaguar saw fit to put the 12V outlet at the back of the console interior instead of one on the dash somewhere. My stock V1 power cord won't allow the console lid to close when plugged in. I'm thinking a mirror tap mount would be my best solution. I am open to other options as well. Thanks.
If you're not married to the mirror tap idea, there is a conveniently located fuse panel with switched 12V power sources and grounding nuts by the passenger footwell. It's a short run up the A-piller (just tuck it behind the rubber/felt weatherstripping, and inside the edge of the headliner).
I just completed my mirror mount Valentine One V2. I pulled the shroud behind the mirror which exposed a wiring harness with 3 wires. The blue w/ grey stripe wire is your hot and the black wire is ground. I bought an RJ11 12" connector with dual size pins (
). I used the small size pins: red to blue w/grey stripe, and black to black. The shroud behind the mirror pulls straight down. There are a couple of tabs. View from passenger side. See purple wiring harness. I used needle nose pliers to pull it out as it made inserting the pins easier (the red pin fit easily on the bottom but the black pin fit easier on top) The cord fed through the mirror neck opening towards the drivers side and I looped the excess wire around the mirror mount to the passenger side where the RJ11 plugs into the V1 Gen 2.
