I need some help from you guys

I have recently bought a 2015 jaguar xf sport 340hp. 52k miles drives great with a few cosmetic issues. Leather on the dash has bubbled because of heat over time. You can see the separation from the bottom of the windshield from the outside. The white on most of the buttons inside have faded and the notorious gunk and sticky **** is on them but I can take care of that. The caps on the rims are fading which can be replaced. There's are some scratches but I can just get the car painted. I have an android so the Bluetooth is a pain in the *** it works better the closer it is to the screen. The driver seat has a rip in the air area where all driver seats have issues. Very small but visible. Eco doesn't work at all. All these issues I'm sure can be fixed with minimal spending asides from the leather bubbling.

I have recently discovered that the number one J/LR dealership in the country is near me and has a 2018 Fpace with 44k miles with a beautiful interior. It's a sport so it has 380 hp majority of the bells and whistles minus a/c seats for literally only $27k. I drove it today and I liked it very much. It has the exhaust note and pops I love. Fast and fancy.

Here's my problem. I cant afford more than $500 a month. I put $3500 down on the Xf making it only $371 a month but I added max care to it for 100 extra a month totaling $471 since jags are expensive to fix. I can pay more every month to eventually lower the monthly payment which is cool. I'm still in the 10 day window for returning it and getting everything back. The salesman at the dealer said if I put $5k they can work with me making it $440 but all the fixes would come out of my pocket. Max care from carmax takes care of everything regardless the price which is good. But the Fpace is newer, in better shape cosmetically, faster, and an SUV. So I'm wondering what decision to make since I have a couple days left. Please if anyone has advice on my decision I'd greatly appreciate it.

Sorry for some spelling

Same engine, more or less. I think the timing chain issues with the early motors was fixed by 2015 but definitely by 2016.

I had an ‘09 XF 4.2. I initially like the car very much but the dash leather and lack of AWD finally killed my joy. Ancient infotainment wasn’t a help. In the end it wasn’t worth wrestling with the XF.

A 2018 F Pace S will have 4G. That’s a very good thing, the 2017’s have the defunct 3G.

Make sure the vehicle you are looking at has the new style front crossover pipes. If it’s the older style that’s a $7,000 service that will come up sooner than later. All three of my SC V6’s had the WP, thermostat and crossover pipes done just before I purchased the cars. Still, I just laid out $2,000 each for two of the cars getting the new rear heater manifold pipes.

I love my F Pace S. It’s about 90% of a Cayenne S at half the price and way better ergonomics, IMHHEO. Just doesn’t take roundabouts as well.

I had a 2010 XF V8 and finally moved to an F Pace last year. Both great cars but quite different to drive and in capabilities

If you can afford it the f pace is the more modern and more practical car for sure

But - if you're on a tight budget then I don't know that would ratchet up to a more expensive car. What did the XF cost? Sounds like you got one that is in a bit of rough shape. If it were me I would prob return the XF and get one that's better cared for. They aren't expensive now

Just be warned that like any luxury car they aren't cheap to repair. If you can do some stuff yourself or have a well priced Indy garage you are in good shape. At dealer prices it could get crippling quickly..

You can prevent dashboard damage from heat by putting on a dashboard shade. Dashboard cracks starts from using A/C while driving and then leave the car under the heat of the sun. Then you step inside the vehicle and drive with A/C on. This does not happen over night but in a few years the dash starts to crack because of the shrink and expansion from cold attributed by A/C and direct sunlight when left outside 24/7
