The F-Pace is beautiful and powerful, but it only has a 16.6 gal fuel tank.
Perhaps it's acceptable in a sports car, but I need range in an SUV when my hunting camp is 400 miles away.
Maybe it's adequate for the diesel, but when your flagship has 380 hp (and more on the way), WTF?

Re small capacity on Brit cars, I guess we have different usage patterns to our U.S. Brothers, we don't really use our top cars, we just have them to impress and howl away from petrol stations making as much noise as poss, with fuel at over $10 a gallon we generally go for a splash and dash approach, plus we can only dream of driving long distances without hitting the sea, perhaps London to Edinburgh but then who wants to sit on the m1 or m6 for hours. Re hunting lodge; How many salmon or elk can you fit in the trunk/ boot of an F?

Only 14% of the US public have a hunting license (and some are kids or older who don't hunt regularly) and the geographic concentration tends to be away from large cities and nearby suburbs. The F-Pace isn't intended for hunters. It's intended to compete for the same people who would consider buying a Porsche Macan--upscale suburban types who take a briefcase to work and support PETA. I'm generalizing, of course. There are exceptions, but I think you get my point.

Congratulations on completely missing the point.
My concern is about the small gas tank and corresponding lack of range. The Macan S is smaller than the F-Pace and has EPA estimates of 17 city/23 hwy/19 combined.
The Macan has a 19.8 gal fuel tank vs. 16.6 for the F-Pace.
I'm also a member of PETA. People Eating Tasty Animals.

I guess here in the UK we dont actually need that much range as we are so tiny, can drive the whole length or breadth in half a day (probably less if you arent worried about the police)!

It is mostly about convenience, although there are many places in the US that are mostly empty, so range is important.
My hunting camp is 10 miles from the Canadian border in upstate New York. It is not unusual for gas (petrol) stations to be 60 miles apart. Plus, the gasoline is much cheaper in Vermont, so it's nice to get in and out of NY without having to refuel.
It's even worse in North Dakota and southwest Texas, where my work often takes me.
I hadn't noticed before, but it seems to be a trend for Jaguar to have smaller fuel tanks than in the past. The current XJ has a capacity of 21.7 gallons. My late beloved 2000 XJ8 had over 23 gallons.
I know, first world problems.

We had a 2006 Toyota FJ, which had a 19 gallon tank and the aerodynamics of a brick. The best it ever did in highway cruising at 70 mph was 15-16 mpg, w/ about a 275-300 mile range.
It was also discontinued in 2014.

I don't think the F-Pace was really intended to "go bush" as we say down here, so extended fuel range was probably not a consideration in the design brief.
The serious off-roaders from Land Rover have big tanks in them; Discovery 4 / LR4 for example has 21.5 US gallons, and there are long range tanks available from a number of suppliers in the aftermarket which add another 29 US gallons or so on top of that.
That's the sort of range you have in a serious off-roader.

Land Rover can handle 8000lb. trailer, Lexus cannot. I would never take my Jaguar off-road unless they made a real off-road vehicle, but then that is why I have Land Rover in the stable for pulling, off-road, a work truck. My Jags are always pampered and clean and stayed indoors until I take them out. With either, fuel mileage is not of a concern. The new diesel engined cars may have fuel mileage.
