SVR Edition 1988
Good afternoon F-Pace forum:
Has anyone seen the new SVR Edition 1988? While the F-Pace SVR is a beautiful vehicle, the purple color is not my style. It did make me curious and I am hoping one of the sages on the forums will be able to enlighten me. I feel as if I have noticed through these many years that Jaguar will occasionally produce these limited editions with a "purple" or "black cherry" (in this case, "Midnight Amethyst") color only. The particular legacy model I remember was a 12 cyl. XJ back in the early/mid-90s that only came in a purple-ish color (AFAIK). Is there an historical significance to the purple color for their special editions?

I'm sorry to disappoint but the only significance of the purple and gold livery on the Jaguar was that of the Sponsor - tobacco manufacturer Silk Cut.
Here's SVO's hyperbole:
In 1988, the 240mph XJR-9 stirred the soul of racing fans. Today, F-PACE SVR Edition 1988 continues to redefine the art of the possible.
Distinctive and dramatic. The spirit of the XJR-9’s racing livery is evoked in Edition 1988’s deep Midnight Amethyst paintwork with Sunset Gold detailing and 22" Forged Champagne Gold alloy wheels.
To compare:
F-PACE SVR Edition 1988 exists as a run of just 394 — a detail highlighted to owners on the ‘SV Bespoke’ dashboard end caps.
As the most special of F-PACE models, the trademark red ‘R’ in the SVR badge is replaced with a statement black accent. The Illuminated treadplates featuring ‘Edition 1988’ logos are a further reminder of Jaguar’s place amongst motor-racing royalty.
Wow - I'll be taking my F-Pace round the Le Mans circuit at the first opportunity and then going into the museum to see the real thing.

Only 394 will be produced costing $189,531 each. VIN# should be authenticated by Jaguar. There's a possibility people from around the world will copy this F-Pace limited edition
Jaguar should extend this limited Edition to the F-Type and other models as well.
If Prince was still alive I know he will have one

The 394 production limit had me perplexed but apparently this references the number of laps the XJR-9 completed during its win at Le Mans in 1988 driven by Johnny Dumfries, Andy Wallace and Jan Lammers.

$189k would need $78,000 in options to get it to up from $111k
as we know, F pace SVR‘s are pretty heavily optioned cars to begin with.
An incredibly highly extra optioned regular SVR would be maybe $15 grand more at best in price
most expensive of the options is typically SVO paint which the 1988 with already have
