Thumbs down $14,000 for 25 extra horse power, really ?

Hi guys, I just compared the price of the F Type R coupe and the SRV coupe. When I specd out my car it comes to $111,200.
The SVR is basically $125,300. So there is a price difference of 14,000. I don't care much for the SRV seats so basically your paying 14,000 for 25 horse power above the R Type coupe.
Really ... ?????????
Jaguar messed up on the pricing for the SRV in my opinion. As a car, the SRV doesn't have so much more over the R Type coupe. I don't get it....

You don't care for the seats, so that must mean that all the upgrades on the car amounts to just 25 additional horsepower!

and the nose, and the wing, and the titanium exhaust. Not saying that all adds up to $14k.

Pretty much....
Oh, it has different front & rear bumper. If I want this bumper covers I'll order them and still be ahead of the game. 25 horses is not a good deal!

Don't forget the fenders... suspension components... custom calibrated settings for dynamic mode.... everything Unhingd said...

I agree, for me its not really worth the extra money for a car that doesn't look quite as nice... but its a hell of alot more than seats and a tune... in reality quite a good value. In the aftermarket that titanium exhaust would cost you $14k alone...

The SVR starts at $123,500...who knows what it will cost well equipped. It looks cool, but stupidly overpriced.

There is so much more than that meets the eye with this car. Sure 25 extra horsepower doesn't seem like much but its not all about brute power.

Take the Honda S2000 CR for example. No changes to the drivetrain or engine. Instead Honda focused on weight reduction, aero and suspension tweaks which ultimately made it steetable track car. MSRP was $38000; a $6000 premium over the regular s2000. People criticized it but its destroyed cars in its class on the track. Another comparison would be the BMW M3/M4. Sure they have a HUGE price difference than a standard 3 series but theres a reason why its such a highly rated car.

Now on to the SVR:

1. OVERVIEW
At a glance
As the pinnacle of Jaguar sports cars, the F-TYPE SVR comes with exclusive performance technologies and form- follows-function styling. These amalgamate to provide an extensive specification, the highlights of which are shown below:
• Powered by the most powerful production Jaguar engine with 575hp and 516lb-ft, the F-TYPE SVR reaches 60mph in just 3.5 seconds, with an electronically limited top speed of 200mph for the Coupe and 195mph for the Convertible.
• Evolved from the successful R model, the F-TYPE SVR features a comprehensive program of bespoke aerodynamic components and suspension developments to create positive aerodynamic downforce with reduction in drag coefficient.
• Through the addition of aerodynamic aids, including a re-designed active rear spoiler, apertures in the wheel arch liners, unique front bumper and undertray, larger hood louvers and flat rear under-floor, significant gains in down-force are achieved compared to a standard F-TYPE R.
• The F-TYPE SVR uses a revised rear suspension knuckle incorporating a larger bearing for greater camber stiffness to provide increased lateral g-force in conjunction with wider tires.
• Upgraded chassis featuring new damper tuning and anti-roll bars for both low speed comfort and high speed control improvements.
• Unique SVR bumper, hood louvers and engine under-tray improve the airflow through the radiators resulting in enhanced cooling and thermal performance.
• Unique tuning and calibration for EPAS, Torque Vectoring, Electronic Active Differential and Dynamic Stability Control.
• New, wider, 20-inch forged and lightweight alloy wheels are designed to optimize brake cooling and are shod with Pirelli P Zero 265/35 front and 305/30 rear tires to maximize grip.
• Titanium and Inconel exhaust system delivers an even more purposeful, harder-edged sound and weight savings.
• New Carbon Fiber exterior package available.
• 55 lbs weight reduction from F-TYPE R.
• The interior is unique with performance seats with Lozenge Quilt pattern, suedecloth-covered
instrument binnacle and center console, SVR steering wheel and anodized aluminum paddle shifters.
----------------------------------------

I can care less about the visuals or creature comforts, but there many changes on the SVR compared to the lower models. I won't go into details but an example is the exhaust system is completely different than the in terms of design and shape aside from the fact that its made from titanium.

To me the revised suspension tuning and aero enhancements are the biggest selling points. Throw those on a V6S then you have a winner.

$123,500 is a bargain when just last month the forum was estimating 150+

I don't think there will be many options to bump up the price. Even the R only has a few options.

The only cost options are for ceramic brakes, alternate wheels, and color top on the vert.

The exhaust, suspension knuckle and sway bars are already on my xmas list. Now I have to figure out how to adapt the dampers to a truly adjustable (rather than 2 setting) system. But first the short shifter and clutch.

I'm curious if certain parts will be on restricted order list. Certain parts for certain cars are restricted to orders that are verified by the owners' VIN. Your VMax tune along with the weight advantage over the V8 if you can get the suspension bits dialed in you'll have a track monster.

That indeed was the case for specialized parts for the MINI JCW GP cars. There are, however, ways around this, as I have a number of GP parts on my MINI.

The 25hp is a tweak to the engine ecu. The increased price - as indicated by various other posts in this thread - comes from all the other changes. And the marketing department.

Had you said that you thought the seats looked odd, but were interested in some of the other bits - but not at that price - then that's an interesting topic for discussion, rather than indicating a dietary preference for Billy Goat.

C'mon boys, play nice.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, it's the internet, don't take it too seriously.

Well, be realistic, I would say...this is Jag's top of the line LUXURY sports car - in addition to the extra power etc, you are paying somewhat for the exclusivity of the model. I'm sure the SVR nose cone doesn't cost any more than the 'R' nose cone to make, but there's only one way to get one - buy the SVR.
If you like the Ultra Blue color - then there are a couple of ways to get it, but they all involve buying a 'special edition'.

Personally I'm not a fan of 'exclusivity' via 'feature denial' - ie you may not have feature X (say Ultra Blue paint, even though it really costs the same as any other paint), unless you pay through the nose for it by buying a special edition, but thats just me. Others may be more than happy to pay and recieve.

All in all, at the price level, the SVR really not that much more than the 'R'.
