Default 19" wheels to 20" wheels, can I ?

Just bought a new ftype S with the standard 19" wheels can I change them to the 20" tornados without doing anything extra to the car?

Thanx in advance

Yes, I went from 18" to 20," which I did myself in about an hour.

Nothing needs to be done because the overall diameter of all the OEM wheel/tire combos remains the approximately the same (e.g. 18" tires have the widest sidewalls, and 20" the least).

What Foosh said. Deciding where to put the trolley jack (if you didn't buy the official jack) is the hardest part.

What about putting 295's on the rear with 19" rims, I've heard conflicting stories

Default Tornado 20"

Actually my wheels were just powder coated gloss black and bringing my car into the shop to have them out on today!

Went from the 19" base model to the 20"tornados they came in silver since I got a great price on them and just had them powder coated to the gloss black
And had them order the standard size that should be on the 20" for the ftype

Not to hijack the thread, but along a similar line as changing wheels...

I'm curious if it's possible to change from the regular steel brakes to the carbon ceramic brakes?

I'm thinking of taking mine to the track, and if I get hooked, that's the one option that I wish it had come with that I would want.

Not certain if I'd do it because I know the cost would be outrageous, but I'm just wondering if it's possible.

Anything is possible with enough money. In addition to the calipers and rotors you will probably have to change out the master cylinders and maybe even the brake control module.

Its likely they engineered the calipers to work with the same master cylinder .. Versus having 3/4? different master cylinders - one for each level of brakes. I'm betting its just a straight rotor/caliper/mounting bracket swap.

Easy enough to check out in the parts book, but given the different sizes of the caliper pistons, it's almost certain that the master cylinders have to be changed out. That had to be done on my MINI when I upgraded to their high performance brakes.

Wow that's crazy. I'm used to the vw group approach where its pretty much 1 size fits all.
