1st world problem - deciding on brake caliper color
So the Wortec rotors are being shipped, and while I'm working in there changing pads and rotors (with the calipers removed), it seems like its the right time to change the red calipers to black.
Now before you say too boring, my car is "almost black" - stratus grey with satin bronze wheels, bronze emblems, black pak, black exhaust tips. So black is the major color theme.
Here are some marketing pics of the car after wheels were installed and a few from the previous owner. I've already changed lug nuts to black and blacked out the wheel centercaps. Just seems like the red calipers are out of place....
What says the forum?......

Although red does look NICE on some body colors [ not with my Ultra Bleu ], I think its getting a bit 'common' as you can buy clipovers, or people just spraypaing them red.
I opted for the large diameter brake disks, keeping to a 'modest' black braking claw color..
But in the end, it just comes down what you like on your own car...

+1. The red works well with that color (and the tail lights). All black with no splash of color might be a bit monotonous.

Now if you blacked out the tail lights, then blacking the calipers might make sense.

Mine (IRR R coupe) was delivered with black calipers from factory (as an option). Buying it second hand one year old, I was ok with that choice as it also had all other options ticked off except carbon ceramic brakes (but with carbon mirrors and air wents on hood and sides).
However if I had the choice, I do think I would have gone for the standard red calipers, even though the quality of the black paint seems very good both front and rear. I won't repaint them red though, as it kind of complements the black pack/carbon look.
So for me they are both good colors, with non of them being "better enough than the other" to justify repainting them.

I've maybe commented elsewhere, but possibly on another forum, that I have painted the calipers on all my cars for the last 30 years with a wide range of colours - red, light blue, dark blue, yellow, gold, silver and black - and every time I have come back to red as the best colour regardless of the car colour.
