Default 2.0T F-type Exhaust update, picture of tips needed.

So as i said on a past thread the 2.0 has a modest exhaust noise, does have crackle and pop on over run and a bit of a rumble, which is nice. I'm thinking of changing the exhaust to increase the noise, I'm not trying to be a V6 or V8 so just to get that straight from the off, just want to increase the level.

Went to the exhaust shop today and had a talk with the guy on updating the exhaust, up on the lift and a bit of looking and scratching of the heads. So after all the debate as i knew and his pasted experience he says it's hard to get a noise from a 2.0 turbo, the turbo takes away a lot of the noise. We have come to the conclusion that we are going to try a few things,

1: remove just the rear box first and see what it's like, if no good
2: remove the rear box and mid muffler, all are just on clip, will not be going near the cats, no EML wanted so shouldn't be.
3: dont want a drone so leave on mid muffler and make a rear box, like the Velocityap one.

He tells me that a lot of 2.0T cars he has done in the past remove the mid and back box, full 3" pipe, front to back.
As it all clip on would be getting it done that i can just replace everything back as OEM.

Lastly i'm going for 2, 4" tail pipes, not that i'm trying to look like a V6 , no, no, i just don't like the rectangular tailpipe.

Can someone post me a few pictures close up of their twin tailpipes, from the front and side and maybe the length of tips, just want the correct fitment. How far do they come out at the top and bottom, and the gap between the 2 tips, do they actually sit straight out. The exhaust guy suggested slash cut pipes to be in the slope of the bumper but i think straight it the way to go, any views on that, I have 2 pics below , getting same tailpipes as pictures only need proper measurements.
Thanks

I posted a few in your other exhaust thread, though they're not great pictures:

these pictures are probably worse...But it looks to me that the top of the pipe is flush with the bumper recess (but about 40mm in from the end of the car), then the pipe itself is at right angles to the ground, and ends up sticking out about 40mm from the lower part of the recess.

It looks that on mine the pipes have a slight upward slope but the end is cut so that it is at right angles to the ground rather than the pipe, so the cut is at about 100 - 110 degrees

Thanks Bruce, i presume yours are 4" tips, can you tell me what gap is between the pipes if possible, what do you think of tips at an angle same as bumper or do you think they look best straight out. The exhaust shop can do 4.5" ones as well, seems all aftermarket systems have tips that are 115mm/4.5"

Hi, it all looks pretty metric to me - the tips are 100mm diameter and the gap is 20mm between the tips and about 30mm from the outside of them to the edge of the recess.

I actually like the little angle on them. It is very close (a tiny bit less steep) than the angle of the rear diffuser itself. My guess would be about 10 degrees, which then means that the angle of the cut would be 100 degrees to get the edge of the tip at a right angle.

I suppose if you cant have the edge of the tip cut at that angle, then horizontal would look better.

I would prefer a greater angle of cut so that it matched the curve of the diffuser, say 120 degrees. But that's just me, and in any event your exhaust shop may not be able to source 4" tips with that much angle.

The other benefit of the greater angle would be that there would be less chance of burning your leg on the tip where it protrudes from the diffuser. I've come close to it plenty of times taking stuff out of the boot of the car, though I havent noticed it being particularly hot.

Thanks guys for the replies. the shop has 4" ones the angle of the diffuser, so i have the option, so it seems the angle cut ones would look better
